Writer's Block

So what the hell should I write, I honestly don't know, I feel that I have to truly get started writing that story that is at the back of my mind, but I don't know where to start, and I have been procrastinating, because I don't have a computer, and I will be buying one soon, in a month or so I should have one already, a nice notebook by apple, yay, but that doesn't mean I can't start writing now............... I just don't know where to start, and what story to start putting down, I know it will be in English, just because it will be easier to get publish something here in Denver if it isn't in Spanish, ( though, you never know ).
I have a rather dark character in mind for a story, and I am a little concerned that I will have to go to a bad place in my mind, to get the proper fuel for the story, but then again, it is not an autobiography, so, maybe I don't have to, hhhhmmm complicated this life is.
What I do know, is that I need to write something good enough to get published, something that will actually become a book, and as such, it will sell, but I don't even know what way to go. How do I pull this out of my ass? That is the question.
I also have an idea about a pimp, a made up autobiography, or should I say, the biography of a made up character, it is a very peculiar pimp by the way, I got the idea from an ex co-worker, and it is brilliant, thanx "K".
So if you have any suggestions, let me know, ( that includes you Megan ), and hopefully I will have something down soon, later.

Hey, I have a question. Have you written any stories/novels/poetry and such on any open archives like fanfiction.net, or fictionpress.com? If so, I'd like to check out your work. I'm starting a new book soon (the first chapter will be coming out in the next week or two) on fictionpress.com and I've be thrilled if you'd take a look at it when it's ready (I'll come let you know ~_^).

Thanks for coming to my blog. I'd like to read more about your writing philosophy as read some of your work.

Cheers!

Welp, let me help you out a little bit then. There's:

writing.com
fanfiction.net
fictionpress.com
fanstory.com
mediaminer.org

And I know there are a couple of sites dedicated to nonfiction, but I don't usually publish my nonfiction like that. I'm not interested. Anyway, I have accounts on all these sites. The readership you get at each one of these is quite different. Oh and I'll be posting the first chapter of 'Ghost Mist' tomorrow or the next day (it's being beta read right now).

Hi borrego!
It's the first time I comment on your blog... but you have so many! I'll check the other ones out and try to answer in (my baaaad) spanish. (writing spanish is SO much more complicated for me than speaking...).

Hmmmm you said you were going to write something in english because it was easier to publish there. How about you wrote it in spanish and then have someone translate it for you? If spanish is your original language, then it would be so much easier for you to write and come up with ideas.

Although my english is good, I still have a hard time writing in it. You see... portuguese is my original language, and in my country you don't really speak english (AT ALL). I'm trying hard to be creative in another language.

Think of Isabel Allende! She wrote in spanish and her books are known all over the world! :D

I'll check the book out soon, I love a good work of fiction, as far as ( algelic ) writting in English and/or spanish, I can do both, but most importantly I want to do both, I enjoy both languages in different areas, and in differnt ways, but spanish is my favorite, as far as having someone translate my stuff, NO, I am very particular about my writting, and I would prefer to translate it myself, I was born in the US, but I grew up in México, so I am bilingual, oh, Eu so um Capoerista, my Portuguese es malo, pero eu quero aprender.

lol Your portuguese isn't that bad. I've seen much worse. :P if you want any help with it... let me know.

Then... write in Spanish and then translate it yourself to English. ^^

I think you will do fine in english I don´t see why should have any problems. About you having to go to a dark place in order to be able to write... well I think you do in order for it to come out better, I have the exact same problem for a story I´m thinking about.

Dude:

You're not having problems writing. You are just saying to yourself, "I have writer's block". There is no such thing as "writer's block." Just start writing. You know, like this:

White lines pierced the night-dark sky, massive cracks shattering a mirror of black. As the mist fell with electric sharpness, Mira walked blindly, stumbling as she went. A child was crying in the distance.

This was the night that Mira died.

See? Even though it's total crap, it's still "writing". Just do it, dude. Then, once yer warmed up, let it flow.
